Included Services

I provide free consultations.

Besides your baby, no one will play a larger role in your family's childbirth journey than your care provider.  Lets talk, get to know each other a bit and see if homebirth and I are a good fit for you.

I am available by phone and email throughout your pregnancy.

Motherhood is quite a journey.  As my midwife client, you will have my personal cell phone number to reach me when you need me.

I provide comprehensive prenatal care for you and your growing baby.

Prenatal appointments last 30-60 minutes.  During that time I am looking at you and your baby clinically - checking blood pressure, fetal growth and monitoring baby's heart rate.  We are also discussing nutrition, stress level, relationships and your hopes and fears surrounding your birth.  While childbirth is undoubtedly a physical experience, it is an emotional and spiritual one too.  We spend time addressing all aspects of your life, so that you feel truly supported and cared for throughout your journey.

I specialize in low risk pregnancy.

It is my job to understand what is normal in pregnancy, labor, birth and postpartum, so that I can ensure you are a good candidate for homebirth.  I want nothing more than for my clients to have the birth they want, but not at the expense of the health and safety of themselves, their baby, their families, myself and my team.  Home birth is a great option for low risk moms and babies.  I want the best outcome for your growing family as much as you do.

I am responsible for your clinical care and support during active labor and delivery.

I join you when you have reached active labor.  During labor I monitor you and your baby's vital signs to ensure the wellbeing of you both.  And, I support you throughout the delivery to help provide safe passage for your newest family member.

I provide postpartum care and support during your transition to parenthood.

I monitor you and your baby's well being while you both transition to being together in a whole new way.  This includes a thorough postpartum exam of your newborn shortly after birth, breastfeeding support, a newborn hearing screening and follow up care.  I will see you and your baby at several key times postpartum, as well as continue to be on call for you and your baby through your first several weeks. My job is to help you find the resources you need to parent in the most appropriate way for you, your baby and your family.

"Of course midwives love babies.  We work hard to provide care to ensure that a woman has a healthy pregnancy and thus a vigorous baby.  But in actuality, midwives love women."
